My Comments: I haven’t read historical fiction for quite a while, so I found this book especially enjoyable. I loved the main character Katherine. She was strong, full of faith, honest, and hard-working. Andrew the second main character was a selfless man, willing to wait for the woman he loved. Katherine’s family was definitely matriarchal. Her mother seemed to rule the roost – she was a very strong woman who was used to getting her way. Even though Dad was strong, he usually gave in to Mom.
I love the idea of a woman in many years gone by running a business. Especially a woman who was coddled when a young girl. I was totally engaged with the story of Katherine. My emotions ran all over the place. I recommend this book as entertaining and a great escape!
