Ok, so due to some of y’alls comments on my last Nicholas Sparks review and due to the fact that one of my favorite sister-in-laws is a big Nick Sparks fan, I decided to try out another of his stories.
This story is about a man, Travis, who has a practically perfect life. He is very happily single and has an enviable social life. He’s had girlfriends come and go, but isn’t really looking to settle down as his lifestyle is very active and he is happy with the way things are. Enter Gabby. A beautiful woman with a boyfriend moves in next door. They don’t exactly meet on agreeable terms, yet they find themselves drawn to one another. The question Travis seeks to answer throughout the book is – how far does one go in the name of love? As events play out in their lives, this critical question must be answered.
I liked this novel better than Nights in Rodanthe, yet not as well as I enjoyed the movie of the Notebook. Travis finds himself in an impossible situation. He must make a choice no one should ever have to make. The way it plays out is maybe a bit unrealistic, but makes a wonderful story. I think maybe Nicholas Sparks books are a bit too cliché for me, but they are great escape books. This is a great romance story to enjoy by the lights of the Christmas tree!
