This weekend from Saturday at 5 am until Sunday at 5 am, Sally and Amy are participating in the 24 hour read-a-thon at The Hidden Side of a Leaf.

Dewey (the organizer and creator of the Read-a-Thon) left choosing a charity up to us.

It seems fitting to me (Amy) that while some people do walk-a-thons, we’re doing a read-a-thon!

We’ve chosen to raise money for Compassion International’s Global Food Crisis Fund. We believe strongly in the work of Compassion International. Between us, we sponsor five children. We’d love to have you join in!

Please consider:
*The prices for food such as rice, wheat, and beans have doubled in the last year
*People who survive on just a dollar a day are being forced to spend 80% of their budget on food.
*As a result, many children are going hungry.

We’d love for you help out! Here’s what you can do:
*Commit to donate money to the Global Food Crisis fund for each hour we read.
*Commit to donate money to the Global Food Crisis fund for each book we read.
*Choose a lump sum to donate.
*Post about our effort on your blog.

All funds should be donated directly to Compassion International’s Global Food Crisis Fund. We’ll be updating our progress throughout the day.

Thanks for your help everyone! Let’s fill some empty tummies!
