Why not get their love for reading started early? Board books are a great idea for toddlers and even preschoolers. Here are a few of my personal favorites.

eachpeachpearplum1.jpg Can you spy Tom Thumb? Cinderella? the Three Bears? This is a fun “I Spy” book that lets your child look for all of his/her favorite fairy tale characters.

goodnightmoon.jpg This is a well-known favorite, and there is a reason it is so popular. It is soothing and melodic and sets the tone for sleep. I personally love listening to my 2-year old say “hush” in her “I’m telling a secret voice” when we come to the part about the old woman.

bunnies.jpg This book teaches in several ways. It goes through the letters of the alphabet, counts up to 26, and has a fun rhyming text. Mother bunny has 26 children (each one’s name starts with a different letter of the alphabet) and she must find a place for each of them to sleep. I like the pictures, too.

Of course there are many, many more! I’d love to hear about some of your favorites as well.
